In July it was time to take some tentative steps into the great outdoors once again. However it had been very therapeutic taking photographs of plants, trees and bugs in my garden in the meantime. And although my dogs are the most photogenic pooches in the whole wide world (well I am a tad biased), even they were getting fed up of my camera. My first trip to the supermarket felt very surreal and inspired me to shoot an image of the queue of social distancing shoppers as they waited outside in the hot sunshine until it was their turn to be allowed to enter. It was such a striking image I entered it into the Royal Photographic Society Documentary Competition (it is a bi-monthly contest for all RPS Documentary Members) and I was thrilled to be chosen as one of the winners.
